The College of Education is proud to announce that Dr. Karina Salazar, Assistant Professor in Higher Education, has been honored as a recipient of the prestigious 40 Under 40 award by the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
A release from the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce said "The 40 Under 40 Awards celebrate young leaders who are making a significant impact across various sectors, including business, education, non-profits, and civic engagement. Every honoree has played a vital role in strengthening and shaping the Tucson community."
Dr. Salazar, a Tucson native and proud graduate of the Sunnyside Unified School District, has built a distinguished career in higher education. Her research has been widely recognized, with publications in leading academic journals and features in major media outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. As a 2023 National Academy of Education Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Salazar continues to advance critical conversations around educational equity.
The College congratulates Dr. Salazar on this well-deserved honor and her ongoing dedication to improving educational outcomes for all students.
Dr. Salazar, along with other honorees, will be celebrated at the 40 Under 40 Awards Breakfast on December 10, 2024, at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa.
