TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) - Teacher Prep Program
The College of Education is one of three University of Arizona units awarded $1.3 million each, along with the Thrive Center and ASEMS program, to provide student support services, particularly for first-generation students, low-income students and students with disabilities. The funding will be distributed over the next five years to 140 teacher preparation program students annually. The program will consist of 1) tutoring; 2) advice and assistance in course selection; 3) information on the full range of Federal student financial aid program and benefits, and resources for locating other scholarships, and assistance in completing the FAFSA; and 4) education or counseling services designed to improve the financial and economic literacy of students, including financial planning for postsecondary education; and 5) activities designed to assist participants enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs to apply to and obtain financial assistance for enrollment in graduate and professional programs).
