Dr. Stathatos is an assistant professor of practice for the School Psychology program in the Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies. Dr. Stathatos received undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Cognitive Science at the University of California Santa Cruz and a master’s and doctoral degree in School Psychology at the University of Arizona. During her graduate program, she trained at various outpatient settings and school districts in Tucson, including at the Mind Clinic, Tucson Unified School District, Amphitheater School District, Sunnyside Unified School District, La Frontera, Jewish Family and Children Services, and Tucson Neuropsychology Associates. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at Avondale Elementary School District, an APA-accredited and APPIC-approved internship program, and postdoctoral training at Sunnyside Unified School District.
Dr. Stathatos is a licensed psychologist and state-certified school psychologist in Arizona. She worked as a school psychologist in the Sunnyside Unified School District. She currently does private practice work where she specializes in psychoeducational and psychological evaluations with an emphasis on learning disabilities (including Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia), Intellectual Developmental Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and ADHD. Dr. Stathatos works with children, adolescents, and young adults.
Dr. Stathatos’ research and advocacy interests include best practices in creating safe and supportive school environments for LGBTQIA2S+ youth. Her dissertation investigated school psychologists’ awareness, attitudes, and current practices with transgender youth. Dr. Stathatos has consulted with and provided guidance to many school teams (locally and nationally) surrounding creating inclusive school environments for transgender and gender-diverse students.
