Ivette Merced is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and a fourth year Ph.D. candidate, with advanced standing, in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies. Ivette is a Ph.D. graduate student Fellow at U or A; and is also a LEND Fellow of the University of Arizona School of Medicine (Pediatrics). Ivette currently serves as a member of APA Division 16 Ethics Committee. Ivette is a 2024 the recipient of the P.E.O. Women’s Scholarship . As a mixed method researcher, interdisciplinary scholar, and international researcher in teaching, learning, and psychology, Ivette hopes to improve how we approach the education and training of psychologists, mental health professionals, and physicians. Her dissertation work focuses on examining how to improve the practice of Bilingual School Psychology by better understanding and addressing issues that lie in the intersection of an emergent bilingual learner’s bilingualism, bilingual education, and special education.
