Fany Salazar is a PhD candidate at the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies at The University of Arizona. She received her B.S. in Mathematics from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and her M.S. in Mathematics Education from The University of Arizona. Fany is a Next Generation of Family Math Dissertation Fellow at the Center for Family Math at the National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement (NAFSCE). From an asset-based approach, her research focuses on parents from minoritized communities' engagement in their children's mathematics education. Also, she is interested in how parents, as adult learners, use their funds of knowledge to make sense of mathematics. She has been working on different projects with teachers, Mexican origin parents, and their children.
