Graduates with an educational leadership degree often work at high levels in private, public, or charter schools. In K-12 educational environments, those positions include:

Principal
Principals lead schools and oversee both students and teachers. They are responsible for setting goals, providing oversight, and encouraging innovation within the school.

Assistant principal
Assistant principals shoulder many of the administrative tasks for the principal, but also are responsible for instructional leadership.

District administrator
A district administrator oversees schools within a district, and is tasked with managing all educational programs, handling budgets, and ensuring the needs of all schools are addressed fairly.
 

Government departments or agencies

A master’s degree in educational leadership also open doors in government careers.

Education program specialist
An education program specialist works on initiatives that will improve education throughout a specific state, or across the nation, if the position is with the federal government.
