As Tucson Unified School District's first Hispanic Superintendent (1991-2000), Dr. Garcia dedicated his tenure to advancing multicultural, inclusive education and establishing impactful programs that gained national recognition. Honored as one of North America’s top administrators and named Arizona Superintendent of the Year, his influence reaches far beyond Tucson.
Today, Dr. Garcia and his wife continue their commitment to education through the Drs. George and Mary Garcia Leadership Scholarship Fund, empowering future leaders at the University of Arizona College of Education.
