In response to COVID-19, Assistant Professor Monica Erbacher, Associate Professor of Practice Elizabeth Pope, and Assistant Vice Provost of HSI Initiatives Marla Franco were recently granted a National Science Foundation award to lead research that will benefit Hispanic Serving Institutions throughout the state of Arizona as campuses plan for re-entry.
The award is titled "RAPID: Student and Instructor Perceptions, Attitudes, and Emotions Surrounding Online Spaces and Institutional Supports during a Pandemic (COVID-19)” and will explore challenges faced by students and instructors at HSIs after moving to online formats during COVID-19. They also will work to identify the resources most helpful to students and instructors and to catalog support that is still needed. The research will examine how findings differ for students and instructors from underrepresented and underserved communities.
