This month, Disability and Psychoeducational Studies Associate Professor Sam Steen will receive the Professional Advancement Award from the Association for Specialists in Group Work, a division of the American Counseling Association.
The Professional Advancement Award recognizes Steen as outstanding in his work to advance the field of group work through the development of the Achieving Success Everyday (ASE) group counseling model. This new technique and associated research informs the teaching, research and practice of group work. It was collaboration with WVU’s school counseling program, Marana Unified School District, and Columbia Heights Educational Campus in Washington, DC.
