The Truths Between Us: Antiblackness and Lateral Violence in Education and Beyond
Dr. Stewart’s talk will underscore the importance of coalition between communities of color toward dismantling white supremacy and how antiblackness (lateral violence) disrupts these efforts. Questions explored will include how do we normalize whiteness? How do we act in its absence? What is the relationship between Blackness and Whiteness and where do non-Black/non-white people fall within the relationship? Why might this positioning matter? Examples that fall within educational contexts will be woven throughout the talk in addition to implications for praxis.
