Speaker: 'Trans as/in Community: Imagining Trans Women’s Futures Togethers'

The Trans Studies in Education Speaker Series is hosting Monica Jones as our spring speaker. Monica Jones is the founder and CEO of The Outlaw Project, an organization based on the principles of intersectionality to prioritize the leadership of trans women of color. Monica Jones' activism gained national prominence when she challenged Arizona's "manifesting prostitution law" and joined with fellow members of the Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) in protest of Arizona State University's Project ROSE.

Monica's campus-wide talk will engage participants in thinking about how in/formal modes of education and networks are vital for imagining trans women's safety and survival. This event is open to the public; it will be hosted by the Education Room 312 (limited seating available) and live-streamed on Zoom. Registration is required

Sponsors for this event include: College of Education, Department of Educational Policy Studies and Practice, Center for the Study of Higher Education, LGBTQ Affairs, African American Student Affairs and the Women’s and Gender Resource Center.
