A Photovoice Study: Foster the Success of Transfronterizx Students in the Community College from the Douglas-Agua Prieta Border Region

Meet & Presentation
Dr. Vannessa Falcón Orta
The first Visiting Scholar hosted by the Borderlands Education Center (BEC).

Dr. Falcón’s work on Transfronterizx students in postsecondary and higher education at the San Diego-Tijuana border using photovoice methodology uncovered important insights on the educational journeys of this student population, leading her to establish the Transfronterizx Alliance Student Organization (TASO) and the Transborder Student Ally Program (TSAP) at San Diego State University (SDSU). While here, Dr. Falcón will be working with Ambassador Pineda in Douglas, documenting the transborder journey of Transfronterizx students in the community college at the Douglas-Agua Prieta border during COVID. She is also working with students at Cochise College on photovoice projects and giving lectures on photovoice methodologies in several College of Education courses.
