Education Specialization
The education specialization focuses on teaching and schooling. Coursework for this specialization includes a variety of domains, including teacher reflection, curriculum, and instruction in the specific content areas of mathematics and science, bilingual education, Indigenous education, teaching Mexican-American children, and environmental learning.
The education specialization requires 12 credits of coursework selected from graduate courses in the Department of Teaching, Learning, & Sociocultural Studies. Education specialization students are also encouraged to complete at least 6 credits of coursework outside of the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Sociocultural Studies, and an additional 6 credits to be agreed upon with TLS advisor. A student may take up to 3 credits of independent study and/or 3 credits of workshop courses.
