Erasmus Circle Scholarships

The Erasmus Circle Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship.

The scholarship program was developed by the Dean’s Advisory Board of the College of Education to create new funding support for outstanding students in education and related fields. The scholarship is funded by generous gifts by College of Education Erasmus Circle Patrons and Erasmus Circle Members.

Erasmus Circle Undergraduate Scholars are outstanding students who show promise in their area of study, many of whom have made contributions to their communities, the College of Education, and the University of Arizona.

The 2019 Erasmus Circle Undergraduate Scholars will be announced early in the fall 2018 semester.

Scholarship Award Amount: $1000
 
Criteria:

 

 

 

 

 

  • Students must be in enrolled for the upcoming fall semester in a College of Education undergraduate program, seeking a bachelor's degree or post baccalaureate.
  •  Students must be enrolled full time (12 credits).
  •  Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better in addition to making continued progress towards degree completion.
  • Students are eligible to apply as long they possess either a Social Security Number or a Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
  •  Previous recipients of an Erasmus Circle Undergraduate Scholarship are not eligible to apply.
  •  Recipients are expected to be available to attend two scholarship appreciation events during the academic year.

Preference is given to students who exhibit one or more of the following:

 

 

  • Students who have demonstrated leadership ability on or off campus.

  • Students who possess attributes and experiences and who have brought a diverse or unique perspective which have benefited their peers and others in their community, college, and the university.
  • Students that come from a geographic location that allows them to bring a diverse perspective to their program of study and would allow them to serve in an area that is under-served by the college and or the university.
  • Students who have overcome particular challenges and have shown perseverance and motivation to complete their undergraduate studies.

The Dean of the College of Education is responsible for appointing one or more faculty and staff to assist with the award selection process. Eligible candidates for the award will be recommended to the Dean of the College of Education, to then be approved by the UA Office of Student Financial Aid.
