Orientation and mobility training

Teaching: Blindness and low vision, Orientation and mobility serves and methodology

Ian Stewart, Ph.D., earned a master's degree in orientation and mobility from Western Michigan University. He later earned a doctorate in rducation from the University of Pittsburgh. As a teacher he has taught orientation and mobility to children and youth in residential and public school settings. He has extensive experience in supervising and developing orientation and mobility services. He established statewide orientation and mobility services in Iowa as part of his duties as director of outreach services and state consultant for visual disabilities. He also has interests in low vision and has co-authored and co-presented on topics related to low vision services for young people. His research interests include anything pertaining to independent travel and low vision for persons who are blind or visually impaired.
