Student Recruitment

The Office of Recruitment is located in Student Services and oversees the college's student recruitment efforts and several projects that provide opportunities for pre-education and education students to gain experience working with young children and adolescents. Applicants to the college's teaching program must demonstrate multicultural experience and a dedication to the profession of teaching; these special projects help teaching candidates gain this experience.

The Office of Recruitment seeks qualified students for teacher preparation programs in the College of Education. Recruitment of students is accomplished through the following actions:

  • Recruitment activities, both on and off campus
  • Collaboration with The University of Arizona campus community
  • Teamwork within the College of Education

Recruitment activities include but are not limited to: visits to local high schools and community colleges, open house programs, and general information sessions at the college. Student Ambassadors are available to speak with anyone who is interested in our teacher preparation programs.

The Office of Recruitment shares strong partnerships with other departments on campus, such as the Office of Admissions, the Honors College, and the Department of Multicultural Programs and Services. In combination with those departments, the Office of Recruitment aims to attract and assist in the retention of students from various backgrounds. Collaborative programs include the Honors College's National Scholars Visitation Program, and the DMPS's New Start Summer Program for incoming UA freshmen.

Teamwork within the College of Education involves participation from all staff and faculty to recruit new students. Academic advisors, professors, and other college employees play a crucial role in the success of the recruitment process.
