Master of Arts in Bilingual /
Multicultural Education, M.A.
The master's program provides students with a foundational understanding of the concepts, methods and theories related to language, reading and culture. Emphasis is placed on developing abilities and competencies which lead to improvements in teaching/learning processes within the classroom. The master's program is also the basis for higher level degrees.
This program focuses on theory, research and practice concerning bilingual/multicultural education and develops strategies for teaching minority language populations. Completion of this program prepares students for teaching and supervision in the educational community and for research in the areas of bilingualism and biliteracy. A specially designed sequence of required courses is available to acquire a K-12 State Bilingual/ESL or ESL endorsement.
